In the picturesque seaside village of Mougins, just a stone’s throw from Cannes, lies the expansive Manoir de l’Etang estate. Spanning 5 hectares of stunning Provençal countryside, this estate boasts a 19th century house that has been artfully repurposed into a charming hotel and restaurant, and It’s the ultimate destination for those seeking to immerse themselves in nature and fully embrace the Slow Living concept.
Constructed in the late 19th century, Manoir de l’Étang stands as a testament to the opulence befitting a British nobleman.
After changing ownership several times over its more than 100-year history, the hotel finally has been owned by the delightful British-Swedish couple, Camilla and her husband, who run this hotel for the past 20 years with great dedication and love. The property, Manoir de l’Etang, is an untold fairy tale in the village of Mougins on the French coast, a peaceful cure for body and soul. This charming paradise was once visited by the famous writer Rudyard Kipling, author of The Jungle Book, who, i am quite sure, found much encouragements on this property for his future literature work.
The picturesque Provençal nature and the stone village noble house have merged into an indescribable landscape.
The hotel offers 22 rooms of different sizes, beautifully decorated in a country style, with bedding made of the highest quality Egyptian cotton and a breathtaking view of the gorgeous nature. The family suite we stayed in during our visit is truly memorable. Every detail in the hotel has been carefully arranged so that you can feel the old spirit of the place and have a special experience. Be sure to explore the property inside and outside, including the small lake in front of it, and the property’s five-hundred-year-old tree, which is why I consider this place a fairy tale.
